About 500 community leaders attended the Affordable Housing Awards Breakfast held on March 25th in Garden Grove. Hosted by the Kennedy Commission, OCCHC/Stepping UP and Affordable Housing Clearinghouse (AHC), the annual awards breakfast celebrates accomplishments and encourages us to do more to provide homes for very low-income families living in a county that ranks among the top 10 least affordable metropolitan housing markets in the nation (NLIHC).
Bill Pavao, Executive Director of the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee (TCAC), was honored for his persistent advocacy for deeper housing affordability while at TCAC and previously at California Housing and Community Development (HCD). His accomplishments include clarifying and streamlining regulatory changes, greater disclosure of decision-making, and greater use of TCAC’s website for disseminating information. After the breakfast, the Kennedy Commission hosted a roundtable discussion with Orange County’s housing leaders and Mr. Pavao.
Jamboree Housing Corporation (JHC) was awarded Project of the Year for The Arbor at Woodbury at the 2010 Affordable Housing Awards (AHA). Located in the City of Irvine, the community is home to 90 families who earn between 30% and 60% of area median income (27 homes are allocated to extremely low-income families) in a combination of one-, two- and three-bedroom garden-style apartments.
